Who should be vaccinated?
Annual Flu Vaccinations Are Recommended For:
- All persons over age 18, even if healthy
- Persons who have chronic illnesses such as lung or heart disease, diabetes, and kidney or immune system disorders
- Persons who live with or work with persons at high risk, such as family members and caregivers
- All healthcare workers
- Persons living in crowded conditions, such as apartments and dormitories
Pneumonia Vaccinations Are Recommended For:
- All persons over age 65
- Persons under age 65 who have chronic illnesses such as lung or heart disease, diabetes
- Persons who are in nursing homes or other chronic care facilities
How often do I need to be Vaccinated?
- You need a flu shot every year
- Pneumonia vaccinations are generally recommended once in a lifetime for persons over age 65
- You need a doctor's consent for a pneumonia re-vaccination
Will the vaccines make me sick?
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirms you cannot get the flu from the vaccination because the viruses in the vaccine have been killed
- The most common mild problems are soreness or redness where the shot was given
Is there a fee?
- There is a $35 fee for a flu shot & $55 fee for a pneumonia shot
- Fees will be billed to the participant's Primary Insurance plan
- You must present your Primary Health Insurance card at any location
- You are responsible for payment only if your insurance plan does not pay
